Passport and Visa Requirements
Passport
You must have a passport to travel outside of the United States. Your passport must be valid for at least six months past your date of departure from the U.S. If you are an avid traveler, please remember that many countries require a minimum of two blank pages in your passport to enter the country. You are responsible for ensuring your passport is prepared for your travel. To learn more about how to apply for a first-time passport, renew an old passport, or add more pages to your current passport, please visit //travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html.
We recommend that all volunteers make a photocopy of the front page of their passport. Keep one copy during your travels and leave the other copy with a friend back home. If our passport is lost, damaged, or stolen during your travels you can get a replacement from the nearest United States consulate/embassy. Having a copy of your passport makes this process much easier.
Visa
You are responsible for researching and completing the application for any visas you might need during your travels. We can assist with this process.
If your visa application requires additional documents such as an invitation letter or proof of volunteer work, simply email us and we will provide you with all the needed materials.
Usually passport size photos are required for each visa. If you are traveling in regions that require visas, bring some extra photos with you just in case.
