	The workcamp in Nablus was one of the best I have been on. All of the international volunteers were able to learn about the situation in Palestine first-hand. Volunteers spent ten days total going to a refugee camp to interact with young children and teach them English, art, dancing, music, and sport. “I volunteered through Volunteers for Peace in the winter 2008 program in Bethlehem, Palestine. I worked with the organization called The Alternative Information Center (AIC) that was located in Bethlehem. Prior to this experience I was living and farming in Israel for 4 months. As an American Jew I had never thought to travel into the West Bank. However, after spending this time in Israel I felt that going into the West Bank was very important to me. I feel that I am very lucky to have been able to have this experience. Without it, I think my opinion on the region would have been extremely ignorant. I had an incredible time meeting international volunteers and Palestinians. We lived in a very small space together in a place called Beit Sahour. Therefore we were almost forced to come together as a group. I do wish that the group had been smaller; however it was nice to have been able to meet so many people at once. Each day we worked on a farm primarily building irrigation walls. And at night we had intimate lectures at the AIC. These lectures were informative and extremely pertinent to my experience.
