"What we found on our arrival was that Georgians are among the friendliest and most welcoming people we have ever encountered. They were happy to help us in any way they could. They would try to talk to us even though we did not speak the language and were simply thrilled when we spoke the few Georgian words we knew."

“There were 4 other volunteers from Germany that were doing their Civil service while I was there, 3 of which had just arrived and 1 that that had been there for 11 months and spoke Georgian. This was particularly helpful as very few of those in the community spoke English. This however didn't stop them from being extremely warm, friendly and welcoming people from the moment I arrived. The lodgings were very basic with shared dorm rooms that were comfortable enough and most residents at TEMI had similar types of rooms. Our roles were to work in the garden from 0700 till 0900, breakfast at 1000, help in the kitchen from 1030 til 1130 and random jobs that were anything from assisting in the markets in the nearby town, harvesting grapes, and playing games with the children. There was plenty of time to learn Georgian language, hike in the nearby woods, and relax during the day if one felt like it. My impression of Georgia and the people was positive and they are extremely friendly people with a deep knowledge of the heritage despite have little money. And extremely interesting music as well!” Haimish Walker ~ 2009
